Hope Amelia Solo was born July 30, 1981, and she is an American former soccer goalkeeper born to Judy Lynn and Jeffrey Solo. She is of Italian descent through her father, she actively participated in sports in high school becoming a starter on the soccer team. Hope scored over 100 goals for the team, appearing on the American parade magazine twice, progressing further in her career she changed position taking the goalkeeper spot during her time in college playing for the Washington Huskies. Her career with the national team came to an end with controversy over comments she made during a period she was deliberately rested at the 2016 Olympics.
